Father A. Leo Abendschoen Council 11615 in Rosedale sold 105 tickets to a Baltimore Orioles baseball game that netted more than $500 for people with intellectual disabilities.

St. John Francis Regis Council 7914 in Hollywood ran a booth at the Hollywood Volunteer Firefighters Carnival. The event netted more than $2,300 for the fire department. The council also held a welcome back ice-cream social for students at St. John School.

Members of St. Timothy Council 12255 in Walkersville spent Labor Day painting new stripes in the parish parking lot and completed interior painting projects over the following week.

Gary Jeffas, grand knight of Mary Immaculate Council 12769 in Secaucus, prepares to take the plunge at the Immaculate Conception Church parish picnic. In addition to running several booths and games, Knights helped assemble picnic tables and clean up.

Charles Emberger of Mary Immaculate Council 12769 in Secaucus, prepares child identification kits for young attendees at the Immaculate Conception Church block party. The council provided kits for approximately 150 children at the event and donated an additional 100 kits to community day care facilities.

St. Joseph the Carpenter Council 3946 in Roselle presented four $500 scholarships to students in grades 5-8 at St. Joseph the Carpenter Middle School.

Mother Seton Council 5427 in Washington Township held a memorial picnic for deceased member George Ruh to benefit the New York Organ Donor Network. The event raised $4,000. The council also sponsors three children through the Catholic Near East Welfare Association and two through the Save the Children organization.

St. John Neumann Council 7032 in Glassboro presented Robert Highley, a police detective, with its Shield Award in recognition of his service to the community.

St. Joseph Council 1984 in Palmyra conducted a Red Cross blood drive in conjunction with Sacred Heart Church. The event netted 84 pints of usable blood, 14 more than the target.

America Assembly in Jersey City and Msgr. J. A. Stafford Assembly in Union City provided an honor guard for Auxiliary Bishop Gaetano Aldo Donato of Newark when he celebrated the feast of St. Augustine at St. Augustine Church.

Sancta Familia Council 11498 in Washington Township presented $4,000 in scholarships to area students, including a seminarian currently studying in Rome.

St. Frances de Chantal Council 6526 in Wantagh held a golf tournament to benefit the East Meadow Challengers Softball Club, an organization that allows people with intellectual and physical disabilities to participate in softball games.

Wappingers Falls Council 1646 held a pancake breakfast to benefit the New York Special Olympics. The event raised $640 with help of donations from local businesses. Council 1646 held a second breakfast to benefit a local woman who broke her neck during the summer and will be unable to work for approximately one year.

Msgr. Edgar M. Holihan Council 4746 in Vestal and its ladies' auxiliary co-hosted a benefit dinner to raise $4,100 for local flood victims.

Most Holy Rosary Council 11621 in Maine awarded its second annual scholarship to Ron Harris, a senior who will attend college next year.

Some 2,100 paperback books were sorted, packed and shipped to U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan during a program sponsored by St. Isaac Jogues Council 13716 in Wayne. Shown packing boxes are, from left, Ed Sweeney, Ed Toney, Father Paschal Onunwa, Jack Marchiano, Brian Downey and Joe Monte. The council raised $433 to cover shipping costs and to purchase additional prayer books for the troops.

Bishop Hoban Assembly in Honesdale leads representatives of the armed forces during the dedication of a 9/11 memorial, called Reflection Park, in Hideout. The assembly provided an honor guard at a Blue Mass commemorating the work performed by local public safety agencies.

John Paul II Council 13935 in Milford held a carnation sale that raised more than $200 for the Tri-State Pregnancy Center.
