Council Assists at Breakfast with Santa
- December 6, 2008
The council
helped out with various support services at St. Isaac Jogues annual
Breakfast with Santa on Saturday morning, Dec. 6. Activities included
serving breakfast, providing photos, assisting with visits to Santa, and clean-up.
Pictured are the council volunteers along with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Council Hosts Altar Servers Recognition Event
- November 23, 2008
The altar servers of St. Isaac Jogues
Parish were recognized at a special event
hosted by the council during 9:00 am Mass on Sunday, November 23. Award
certificates and gifts were given to the current altar servers during
the ceremony. Altar servers in training were also called forward for
recognition. A reception was hosted by the council after Mass in
celebration and appreciation of the altar servers.
Crab Cake Sale a Success
- November 21, 2008
The
council's second crab cake sale wrapped up with customer pick-ups on
Friday, November 21. The sale proved every bit as popular as the one
held this past Spring. Special thanks goes to council members Tony
Cucchi, Joe Powers and Jack Marchiano (pictured, l to r) for running
this fundraiser. The council also thanks all our customers for their
support.
Book
Drive Conducted for Troops Overseas - November 10, 2008
The
council conducted a paperback book drive in October and early November for U.S.
troops stationed
in Iraq and Afghanistan. Over 1,500 books were received, which will be
sorted and packed for shipment to several locations. Special recognition goes to
Jack Marchiano for coordinating this project.
Council Assists at Special Olympics - November 8, 2008
Several
members of the council
assisted on Saturday morning, November 8th, at the Pennsylvania Special
Olympics held at Villanova University. Volunteer activities included
working in food service. Volunteers also had some time to watch the
athletes compete. Special thanks goes to John Manza and Bill Ristey for
organizing this service project.
Parish Coffees Hosted by Council - October 5, 2008
The council hosted parish coffees
after both the 9:00am and 10:30am Masses on Sunday, October 5. A wide
variety of refreshments were provided to the numerous parishioners in
attendance. Special thanks goes to Sean Dempsey for organizing this
event.
Council Recognized at Parish Mass - September 20, 2008
At
St. Isaac Jogues' 5pm Mass on Saturday evening, Sept. 20, the council
was recognized by Msgr. Cunningham for its good works and positive
impact on the parish community. Council members were called forward and
given a special blessing to continue their endeavors. After the Mass,
light refreshments were served in the Parish Hall to members, their
families and parishioners.
Veterans Hosted at Baseball Game - August 19, 2008
Several
veterans residing at the Coatesville VA Medical Center were hosted by
the council at a Wilmington Blue Rocks baseball game on Tuesday evening,
August 19th. Helping with this service activity were (pictured, l to r):
Joe Monte, Bob Meehan, and Frank Yanni. Also assisting were Bill Ristey and Pat Baker. Special thanks goes to Bill Ristey for organizing
this service project.
