Council Sponsors Student at St. Malachy School - December 14, 2007
The council voted to participate in St.
Malachy School's Adopt-a-Student Program with a $300 donation. The
adopted student, Eduardo, is a third grader whose favorite subject is
Math. The Adopt-a-Student Program was instituted last year to
offset the cost of tuition at the North Philadelphia parochial school.

Breakfast with Santa Assisted by Council - December 8, 2007
The council
helped out with various support services at St. Isaac Jogues annual
Breakfast with Santa on Saturday morning, Dec. 8. Activities included
guest check-in, serving breakfast, photo services, and clean-up.

Council Assists at Special Olympics - November 3, 2007
The council
assisted on Saturday morning, Nov. 3rd, at the Pennsylvania Special
Olympics held at Villanova University. Volunteer activities included
staffing the cafeterias and organizing donated food for distribution to
various venues. Volunteers included Bill Brennan, John Castaldi,
Mike Harkness, Dave Hobson, John Manza, Jack Marchiano, Joe Milano,
Anthony Perretta, Bill Ristey, Don Smith and Len Trainor.

Stem Cell Presentation Hosted - October 24, 2007
The council hosted
a 1 hour presentation on stem cell science from the Catholic perspective
in St. Isaac Jogues Parish Hall. The presentation, which was given by
the council member William Ristey, PhD, was attended by 40 parishioners
and other guests. A Q&A session at the end of the presentation allowed
attendees to gain insights into their specific concerns. Special thanks
goes to Bill Ristey for preparing and delivering the presentation.
Star Council Award Received - September 24, 2007
The council received notice from Knights of Columbus national
headquarters that it has won the Star Council Award for fraternal year
2006-2007. This award is given to councils that meet or exceed a variety
of metrics including membership growth and depth of service
programming to the Church, the community, families, youth, and its
members. Only about 10% of councils qualified for the award, which
encompasses the Columbian, Founders' and Father McGivney Awards.
Drawing Party Held for Car & Gas Raffle - September 15, 2007
The
Drawing Party for St. Isaac Jogues Car & Gas Raffle was held Saturday
evening, September 15, in the Parish Hall. A catered dinner was enjoyed
by attendees, followed by the drawing of the Grand Prize and the 25
Gasoline Gift Card prizes.
A total of 408 tickets were purchased, with the proceeds benefiting the
Parish and its Youth Program. The Car & Gas Raffle Committee thanks
everyone for their support.
Council Members Work on Habitat for Humanity Projects - July
28, 2007
Several members of the council worked on two
Habitat for Humanity projects in Pottstown on Saturday, July 28.
Activities included framing work, building foundation forms, and trash
removal.
Participating in the work activities were Mike Harkness, Bill Longua,
Jack Marchiano, Bill Ristey, Frank Yanni and his grandson Doug. Pictured
