Support for St. Malachy School - May 9, 2012
As part of its charitable service program
for youth, families and the community, the council made a donation of
$300 to
St. Malachy
School by means of the school's Adopt-a-Student Program. The program helps to offset the cost of tuition
for students at
the North Philadelphia school.
Spring Fling
Wine and Cheese Social Held - April 21, 2012
St.
Isaac Jogues Parish Hall was the setting for a festive wine and cheese
social hosted by the council on Saturday evening, April 21. Titled
Spring Fling, the event was attended by over 80 guests, who enjoyed
the red and white wine selections, numerous gourmet cheeses, specialty
sandwiches, fresh cut fruits and an array of desserts. Fr. Ed Hamilton
offered a blessing for the bounty shared by all. Several silent auctions
and an array of bag auction choices provided additional excitement.
Proceeds from the event will benefit St. Malachy School, Seminarian
Support, Veterans Programs and other Knights of Columbus charities.
Special thanks goes to Mike Harkness for organizing the event.
Prayer Garden Work
Group - March 24, 2012
A
workgroup of 9 council members trimmed the shrubs and hedges of the
prayer garden and along Walker Road at St. Isaac Jogues Parish on
Saturday morning, March 24. In addition, fallen branches and other
debris were chipped and shredded as part of the maintenance activities
of the grounds, and yard debris was removed. Pictured are John Ciarlello
and Bill Ristey trimming shrubs along the north side of the garden.
Council Assists at Scouting Event - February
25, 2012
Several
council members assisted with concession stand services at the Pinewood
Derby held by Cub Scout Pack 81 on February 25 at St. Isaac Jogues Parish

Knight of the Year Award
- February 11, 2012
The
recipient of the 2011 Knight of the Year Award is Paul Adack.
Grand Knight Jack Marchiano presented Paul with the award at the council's annual
potluck dinner. Paul was recognized for heading up the Knights' Stations
of the Cross, volunteer work with Special Olympics, and involvement in
numerous other council projects and activities. Paul's management of
several COAL fundraising raffles was also noted.
Potluck Dinner Hosted by Council
- February 11, 2012

Members
of the council and their families enjoyed a potluck dinner in the Parish
Hall on Feb. 11 after the 5pm Mass. A wide
variety of appetizers, entrees, side dishes and desserts were enjoyed by
attendees. There were several activities for younger children to enjoy
also. Fr. Ed Hamilton joined the gathering to offer a prayer before
dinner. Grand Knight
Jack Marchiano welcomed all the attendees and made the annual Knight of
the Year Award presentation.
Local Athlete Advances
in Free Throw Championship - January 29, 2012
Congratulations to Jack Lyons, who won the St. Isaac Jogues Knights of
Columbus Free Throw Championship held at St. Patrick’s School in Malvern
on January 29, 2012. With this win, Jack now advances to the Regional
Competition.
The Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship is sponsored annually,
with winners progressing through council, district, and ultimately state
competitions. All boys and girls age 10 through 14 years old are
eligible, and compete in their respective age groups. Last year, more
than 223,000 athletes participated in over 3200 local competitions. Good
luck to Jack in the district competition!
