The Baptismal Rose
Program is a component of the council's Service Program to the Church. A
gift in the form of a long stemmed red silk rose with a white
rosary wrapped around the stem is presented to the parents and baptized child.
This gift is given in appreciation for all the parents have done and
will continue to do to nurture their child in life and faith. It is also
given to welcome this newest member to our parish community.
The
red rose is a symbol used to celebrate life, and the white color of the
rosary is symbolic of the state of grace of the newly baptized child. A
card is enclosed with the following quote from Pope John Paul II: "Every child is a unique
and unrepeatable gift of God." A personalized card is also
included with the name of the child and the date of the Baptism.
The Baptismal gifts are
produced by the North Penn Training Center, which provides training and employment
for developmentally challenged individuals.
