Parish Coffee Hosted by Council

The council hosted a Parish Coffee after the 10:30 AM Mass on Sunday
morning, March 26. Along with coffee, tea and cocoa, a wide selection of
baked goods and other refreshments were enjoyed by the
parishioners. A table with special food and drink selections for
children was also provided. Thanks to all council members who
helped make this parish fellowship activity a success.
9/11 Commemoration Held
- September 11, 2016
responders were hosted by the council at St. Isaac Jogues Parish with
events commemorating the 15th anniversary of 9/11. Guests from the
Tredyffrin Police Department, Chester County Sheriff's Department, as
well as fire companies from Berwyn, Paoli and Radnor were welcomed. A
Blue Mass was held at noon, concelebrated by Rev. Stephen Moerman, Fr.
Ed Hamilton and Fr. Paschal Onunwa. Following Mass, attendees processed
to the parish Prayer Garden, where a Bell Ringing Ceremony was held in
honor of first responders who have given their lives in service to
others. A reception followed in the parish hall.
VA Cookout Hosted -
August 13, 2016
council hosted its annual cookout at the Veterans Administration
facility in Coatesville around noon on Saturday, August 13th. Residents
were treated to hot dogs and hamburgers with all the fixings, baked
beans, watermelon and other summer fare. Due to the hot weather, food
service was provided indoors. Twelve members of the council assisted at
the event, plus spouses and children.
Soup Kitchen Activity -
April 29, 2016
Seven council members assisted at the Missionaries of Charity soup
kitchen in Norristown on Friday morning, April 29th. Approximately 44
guests were served. Volunteers reported that the experience was very
rewarding, and that the sisters running the kitchen were appreciative of
the help and food donations.
Knight of the Year Award
- February 6, 2016
recipients of the 2015 Knight of the Year Award are Joe Layden and Ed
Sweeney. The awards were presented at the council's annual Potluck
Dinner on Saturday evening, February 6, 2016 in St. Isaac Jogues Parish
Hall. Joe was recognized for his longstanding participation in numerous
council activities over the history of the council. Ed was recognized
for his leadership of the council as a recent Past Grand Knight.
Seminarian Support -
February 6, 2016
continuation of its seminarian support program, the
council welcomed seminarian
Max McGallagher and his parents to its Potluck Dinner on February 6.
A contribution of $500 was given to Mr. McGallagher by the council to help with
his expenses as he continues his studies at St. Charles Seminary.
Council Celebrates 11th
- January 6, 2016
The council marked the 11th anniversary of its formation on Wednesday
evening, January 6th, starting with Mass at 7 PM in St. Isaac Jogues
Church. Mass was concelebrated by four priests, each with a special
relationship to the council: Fr. Stephen Moerman, current pastor of St.
Isaac Jogues Parish where the council is based; Fr. Ed Hamilton, current
chaplain of the council; Fr. Paschal Onunwa, former chaplain of the
council in its early years; and Fr. Daniel Arechabala, recently ordained
and having received support from the council for several years as he
pursued his priestly vocation. Candidate for the deaconate, Dan Mazurek,
participated as altar server. A Fourth Degree Honor Guard added to the
decorum of the celebration. The first Grand Knight of the council, Pat
Baker, provided an historical overview of the council's formation. Mass
was followed with a social in the Parish Hall.
