Veterans Hosted at Cookout - July 24, 2010
Another
successful cookout was hosted by the council at the Veterans
Administration facilities in Coatesville on Saturday, July 24th. With
the 100 degree weather outside, food service was provided in an air
conditioned area of the facilities. Veterans and their guests noted what
a great time they had. Grand Knight Joe Monte commented that this is one
of the most satisfying events the council does. Special recognition goes
to Bill Ristey for organizing the cookout.
Parish Coffee Hosted by Council - June 6, 2010
The council hosted a parish coffee
after the 10:30am Mass on Sunday, June 6. A wide
variety of refreshments were provided to the numerous parishioners in
attendance. Special thanks goes to Joe Monte for organizing this
event.
Support for Local Seminarian - April 21, 2010
In
continuation of its seminarian support program, the
council welcomed seminarian
Daniel Arechabala to its meeting on
April 21. Mr. Arechabala was introduced to the council members, and he
detailed his progress at the seminary.
A contribution of $500 was given to Mr. Arechabala by the council to help with
his expenses. Pictured are Grand Knight Jack Johnson and Daniel
Arechabala.
Lenten
Crab Cake Sale - March 27, 2010
The
council's fifth crab cake sale wrapped up with customer pick-ups on
Saturday, March 27. The popular event helps to fund the council's
charitable projects. Special thanks goes to Joe Powers and Jack Marchiano,
pictured, for organizing this
fundraiser. The council also thanks all our customers for their
support.
Knight of the Year - March 17, 2010
Jeremy
Blackburn was presented with the council's Knight of the Year Award for
2009 during a social after the council's regular meeting on March 17. In
presenting the award, Grand Knight Jack Johnson noted how Jeremy has
exhibited the best qualities of the knights within the council and also
in extending his service to activities of the Knights of Columbus in the
district and area. Jeremy thanked the council for this recognition, and
noted how much he appreciated the opportunity to be of service in such
council projects as the Baptismal Rose Presentations and
Altar Servers
Recognition.
Council Sponsors Student at St. Malachy School - January 20, 2010
The council again renewed its
participation in the Adopt-a-Student Program at
St. Malachy
School with a $300 donation to sponsor a student for
2010. The Adopt-a-Student Program helps to offset the cost of tuition at
the North Philadelphia parochial school.
